UK: DETENTION OF CHILDREN ‘MUST STOP' |
On Monday 27 April 2009, England’s Children’s Commissioner, Sir Albert Aynsley-Green, published a report on the arrest and detention of children subject to immigration control. The Children’s Commissioner is a non-departmental public body, which is responsible for ensuring compliance by the State with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in England. Last year the UK lifted its reservation to the UNCRC relating to children subject to immigration control. |
